I am not one to get my self worked up before a movie or TV series starts, so for me, no it's not boring and anyone that predicted that Rene was going to cut that guys thumb off, or stab the other russian in the eye, well hats off to you, you should try your hand at writing a script. Some of us have been waiting for Jack to retire, be retired or killed to end the series. Sooner or later that will have to happen. This season is no differnt than the past seasons, they have moved through some obvious bad guys and are just now starting to face the real enemy. I DVD'd last night, haven't watched it yet.

A slow part of the plot...so far. I thought the Prinze character was going to be a young Bauer but all he seems to care about is following his girlfriend around.
I would like to think the writers have somewhere to go with this plot twist and hope it gets better.
As I wrote in a earlier post that, before the season began, I read that the character of disgraced former President Logan was going to be involved in this 'day'. If I remember right, wasnt Jack Bauers dad involved with Russians, who along with President Logan plotted a nuclear threat?
Was Jack Bauer's dad killed outright or was it just thought he was killed in a blast? I actually forget, but hey they figured out how to bring Tony Almada back didnt they?
Only 9 hours have passed so there are 15 hours left in this 'day'

LOL! I also made the same comparison between this dana chick and Jack's daughter, Thank God she's found another gig!

If anyone has caught that new show "Forgotten" Jack's daughter is one of the regular cast members on there, so skip it!

Interesting theory about Jack's dad, hmmm?

Scratch that theory about Jacks Dad reappearing. Cromwell seems to have burn a bridge or 2 with the show last April.

http://www.pbpulse.com/tv/24/2009/04...-words-for-24/

Quote:
So, last week I was on the phone with James Cromwell, the super talented character actor you’ve seen in Babe, L.A. Confidential, ER, The West Wing and a gazillion other movies and TV shows.
Cromwell will be in town this week for The Palm Beach International Film Festival. You know Cromwell’s been around ’cause he’s receiving the festival’s Career Achievement Award. An award that’s well deserved, by the way.
We had a nice chat and talked about everything from charges that his director-father was a communist to what it was like playing George Herbert Walker Bush in W.
The beauty of interviewing Cromwell is that he’s extremely candid (we entertainment reporters love those types!) and has no problem saying what’s on his mind. When I asked him what it was like playing Jack Bauer’s murderous dad on 24, well, as expected, Cromwell told me what he really thought.
“I had never seen 24. My agent said (the producers) asked me to do an arc on the show and that a lot of people watch it and it would be a good thing to do. But my character was bizarre. Not knowing the show, I went to the producers and said, ‘Look, this guy kills his one son, attempts to kill his grandson for his…legacy? Are there any redeeming qualities to this character at all?’ They looked me as though I was speaking Greek. Where’s the human being in this guy? Then I see this one-star general – great uniform – standing on the set and I thought, ‘Damn, that’s a great costume, but I don’t remember a general in this episode.’ I said, ‘What are you doing here?’ He said, ‘I just came to visit.’ He was the Commandant of West Point. I’m thinking he was in L.A. and somebody said go to the set of 24. I asked why he came and he said he was there to talk to the producers because the representation of torture on 24 was confusing the school’s gradates and they were going into combat zones not being sure of the appropriateness of the techniques they have seen lauded on 24.”
“He said they were just as liable to take out a knife and stick it in the thigh of some Iraqi to get a piece of information thinking, ‘Well, Jack Bauer did it and it seemed to be effective.’ He talked to the producers and was rebuffed and was told if he had a problem, to remember 24 was just a TV show and if he had a problem with torture, he should talk to the people in Washington. I still think that aspect of the show is irresponsible. I understand shoot’em-ups, what I don’t understand is that in a time of war to believe that the use of torture is effective. I think that’s really (bleeping) reprehensible. But my piddling difference with them made no difference.”
“But I expressed myself in no uncertain terms every time I was asked. Needless to say, I wasn’t asked back. I understand that it makes a good story, but what I thought the Commandant was trying to convey was torture is not only illegal and is a crime, but it doesn’t work. It does not protect us.”

OK, when daylight returns in about 4-5 'hours' on the show....both bodies will surface in that swamp and somehow the other analyst at CTU will match the picture on the security camera with one on the news broadcast....it would have helped matters more if both Prinze and the ugly ho would have tied cinder blocks to themselves and jumped in after the bodies.

I think this is the best guess for what will happen!

I think there's also going to be a twist with the leaders daughter and her boyfriend too. I think the boyfriend might end up being a bad guy.

One other observation...when the suicide bomber in the hospital went to push the button and blow himself up, he didn't yell the traditional "Allahu Akbar" that those cowards do when they attack. Probably some PC bullshit that prevented them from including that.....

3/8—2 am to 3 am

Man, maybe I’m cynical lately, but this day is taking forever to have that A-HA moment. The Dana plot seems to be getting better. The old manager from News Radio (also the geek from “Office Space”) looks like he’s going to cause her even more grief. My prediction is that Cole will end up killing him too.

Where was Renee last night? Was she even in the episode???

Gotta admit, I was a little surprised at Kayla’s man being behind the nukes. Thought he was one of the good ones.

Other than that, the episode still didn’t give me goosebumps.

No Renee, more Dana. Shitty.

Just me, but that suicide bomb looked awful weak when it went off.

Certainly there is no other human on the planet as durable as Jack, he gets beat up, tortured (recovers and kills his captors), stabbed (pulls the knife out and throws it dead center into the throat of a moving bad guy), blown across a room (immediately rolls over and starts barking orders while still on the floor).

Bucarino, you were right it seems about the boyfriend, my wife also predicted that.

The security at CTU considering that NYC, if not the nation, at the current time is at Defcon-5 level, yet anyone can drive a car right up to the front door and blow up a bomb, or any probation officer can have the run of the place at 3 am in the morning as well......

If this plot for this season doesn't pick up, and in a damned hurry, this could be 24's 'jump the shark' moment.

Thought the same thing 'nTherfan. They jumped the shark on this one. However, for the FIRST time this year I went "DAYUM!!!!" and got goosebumps. CTU is down baby. I thought for a second that Bubba Gump was going to die in the explosion.

Nah, Bubba would find a palmetto leaf to cover his wound, and Forrest would show up to run him out of the building to the shore of the Hudson River.

No Renee and no POTUS on the show last night.....the writing this season leaves alot to be desired.

Wow wow wow wow wow wow. Best episode of the season by FAR. Thank you 24. About freaking time.

First............and foremost, what a freaking amazing last 60 seconds. So Dana Walsh kills the old News Radio boss. I thought "wow, this bitch means business". THEN SHE'S A FREAKING DOUBLE-AGENT???? I certainly did not see that coming.

And my girl Chloe. Gotta love her. Bad acting and all, she endears herself to you, that's for sure. She got 'er dun!!

Jack not dying--predictable. And who didn't know that when the bad guy had Jack's head lined up in the scope Renee would show up. Pretty easy to figure that one out.

AND..........Bubba Gump is pretty cool!! He told the NSA dude where to shove it. He's finally got some spine.

Gotta admit. The writers set me up. Thought Bubba was a retarded character--he's turning out to be cool. And the Dana storyline--I kept wondering "Why is this even a sub-plot" Naieve me I guess. They sure made it good.

EDIT: Which makes me wonder. Did the writers say "where the hell are we going with this Dana thing" and just take it in a completely different direction? I mean, she didn't act calm, cool, and collected during any of her other issues--almost wallowing when she told Cole "it's over" and other stuff?

Default 24 tic toc tic toc.....CANCELLED

http://www.thrfeed.com/2010/03/fox-cancels-24.html

Quote:
Tick, tick, tick … and done.

After eight seasons, Fox’s “24” is coming to an end.

The groundbreaking action drama will air its final real-time episode in May, the victim of a confluence of circumstances: a swelling budget, declining ratings and creative fatigue.

Yet for fans of Jack Bauer, there remains hope. Studio 20th TV is developing a theatrical film that takes Bauer to Europe, and showrunner and executive producer Howard Gordon says other possibilities are being explored as well.

“There are other possible iterations of Jack Bauer and his world,” Gordon said (full Q&A with Gordon about series ending here).

The writing has been on the wall for the show all season, which Gordon said felt like “senior year of high school” to star Kiefer Sutherland.

Because of the constant upward spiral of cast and creative team salaries, any drama begins to carry serious financial weight after its fifth year. Sources say Fox paid a hefty $5 million per episode license fee to 20th TV.

Meanwhile, the show’s ratings dropped 16% this season to a 3.8 adults 18-49 rating including DVR — still healthy numbers for a scripted drama, yet not enough to overcome the program’s increasing cost, a budget that was set to climb once again since contracts for Sutherland, Gordon and other key players expire this season.

Then there’s the show’s creative struggle. How many times have “24” characters declared that a looming crisis will be addressed “within the hour,” or has Bauer struggled to gain the respect of the latest CTU chief? Gordon says the show’s writers felt they had exhausted the real-time possibilities for Bauer and never came up with a truly compelling idea for Day 9.

“If one of the writers came up with a good idea, I’d happily pitch it to Kiefer and then happily pitch to a network, whether Fox or someone else,” Gordon said. “We just don’t have that idea, and that’s where everything has to start.”
Producers did sniff around at other networks, namely NBC, with 20th TV offering to lower its license fee to $3.5 million to keep the show going. NBC ran the numbers and passed.

As the weeks tick down to the show’s final hour, Gordon promises a strong finish coupled with the current New York-based storyline taking a dark and creatively risky turn for the final episodes.

For fans, the ending of “24,” along with ABC’s “Lost,” represents the departure of one of the few successful serialized action-driven shows on broadcast, leaving a suitcase-nuke-sized gap in the creative landscape. In addition to its unique real-time storytelling model, the drama pioneered the modern-day TV cliffhanger.

Even its scheduling was an innovation — a returning hit that airs in midseason without repeats.

“I’d like it to be remembered as a revolutionary concept,” Gordon said. “I hope the second thing is that we loved this show so much and never did anything less than our best and I hope we delivered to our fans like we feel we did to ourselves.”

Fox probably had to make room for more reality bullshit....maybe that new show that Simon Cowell is leaving Idol for.....

I don't buy the cost of contracts bullshit, especially when Law & Order and CSI seem to never end, when all versions of them jumped the shark years ago.
