Scallops
Anyone gone north looking for scallops in the Gulf. We tried the southern edge/tip of the area with not much luck. We were going to head further north but we'd spent to much time playing around at the sandbar by Anclote. agrr
Next week.

There are some doing very well in the Bayport area, however I am not familiar enough with the area to give you any locations.

I just noticed this thread. Funny as everytime I hear or think of scallops it triggers a great memory of my childhood.
I grew up on Pensacola Beach for my first 18 years as most here know by now. I am not syaing it's the best place for scalloping, but my mother and my aunt always drug me and my cousin along with them down to this one lagoon all of the time to go scalloping. My cousin was a year younger then me. We would be the ones who would dive down and get the scallops out of the sand. We would scallop with a snorkel and mask. We would slowly walk/wade a sandy-bottomed scallop flat using our toes/feet to find a grouping of them. Once we found a couple we would break out our mask and go pick them up. My mother was a great cook to say the least and she used to prepare the best scallops. Recently for Valentine's Day I took my lady out to Morton's Steakhouse down here on South Beach and they had maybe the best scallops I have ever had as one of the appetizers as they were the bacon wrapped scallops.

Yep, I can remember going off shore NPR in about 6 ft of water and filling our bags, pockets and any where else you could stick one. Some spots were only used once. Them swimmin scallops have a nice bite
